We lost TJ's Mom Gwen on Sunday unexpectedly. She was not a woman of many words but you never questioned that she cared for you, loved you, and would help you out in any way she could. She always made an effort to bake you your favourite meal or dessert when she saw you, especially at Christmas time, and was always eager to talk to or spend time with her grandkids whenever she could. She'll be greatly missed

This is indeed sad. Gwen was very quiet, but she never missed a shift and loved doing extra tasks which she took over and made her own. One thing she took over from me was reading the hydro readings and then recording them and giving the resulting numbers to me and to Wilma so an invoice could be issued. She also kept track of all of the PSAs played every month and tabulated them for our year for our reporting. She was very proud to know that her figures were reported on and made a difference.

Friends of 99.3 County FM
Dear Friends of 99.3 County FM,
December 12th we lost friend and long-time volunteer Gwen Nowitski. Gwen had gone in for surgery when her heart gave out.
Many volunteers are already aware of Gwen’s passing however I asked her husband Nick for permission to post this as Gwen had worked with many people who have not been recent volunteers due to life changes/covid etc.
Gwen started to volunteer at 99.3 County FM way back in February 2015 and just stopped around when the pandemic started, five years of her contributing to the community through the radio station.
The station was important to Gwen, she helped many other new volunteers learn how to contribute. She did the drive from Consecon regardless of the weather every week. Gwen took on any task and made it her own, as well, she always made our Grapevine guests feel at home.

I have known the Nowitski family for over 30+ years. I became friends with TJ when then lived in Scarborough. They ended up moving to Belleville where I continued to be a close friend to TJ and really got to know Gwen. I always remember growing up she was a great person and fun to hang out with. Gwen would always have a good laugh at us teenagers growing up and turning into young men. Sometimes she would get a good laugh at our expanse and other times she would shake her head and offer guidance and direction. Gwen has been greatly missed since this past December but will never be forgotten. She was a fantastic lady wife, mother and grandmother and friend of mine. You will always be missed and never forgotten. We will see you later.
